The 100-crore year at The Claridges
Weitzel and Jonsson‘s model is a great way to plan a resurrection from organizational decline. Using this framework as a uguideline and blue ocean framework I have yet again managed to salvage a hotel - This time the Claridges New Delhi Claridges Collection with a five year plan.
When I told the promoters that their asset would cross 100 crores of revenue (130 keys) in FY 2023-24. They were hopeful and encouraged me. 1 month to go in the FY and that milestone has been breached.
If you have a worthy asset and would like it systematically repositioned to give engineered results - we are a call away. There is no magic there is no playbook - every solution is planned methodically and meticulously with an overarching Bramd strategy. Tools and frameworks keep you aligned to the vision and purpose. Attaching the 5 year revenue growth plan.
To become a true luxury hotel a property must generate over 1 crore per key per year !
I am privileged to have been able to reimagine rejuvenate & reposition 2 marquee luxury properties in New Delhi that were fairly unambitious. Properties that people drove past but then stopped took notice and went in ! A key takeaway- Programming and being relevant to your target audience. Being the 3rd place after home and office takes a superhuman effort.
I cannot begin to express the euphoria and the satisfaction of achieving 100 crores of revenue for the first time against all odds for a challenging asset like the claridges fraught with many irregularities / compliances and a crumbling - leaking building.
We have now embarked on a new adventure with bringing our dream of a new Uber luxury hotel management company to fruition.
Latika Nath thank you for working hard to provide us a canvas with your outstanding sense of design, sense of style and sense of place !
Chef Vivek Rana you outdid yourself with the restaurant food menus and concepts wish we worked longer there would have been more magic - RITESH NEGI for guiding beyond Rana’s tenure and what great food at JADE you have done - so proud of your effort @Patrick John Vinay Kumar Singh the two sales magicians Rohit sharma engineering. Nishant Rathore keeping the people nurtured.
Sometimes to succeed you have to battle the inertia of mediocrity both within and externally although it was an uphill task. The lesson I have learnt is it’s easier to be objective and fix the people capability problem before the product capacity problem. It would have gone faster and easier if I had done that, but then it wouldn’t have been challenging enough.
All we did was reimagine and utilize and monetize idle capacity I
We look forward to the future! The 100 Cr question is who is next on this list ? 1 Cr per key per year.
